Universal Studios Singapore is an amusement park on Sentosa Island. The park features themed areas from world-famous movies produced by Universal Studios.

We typically skip amusement parks, but growing up on their movies ourselves, and seeing our child’s overwhelming excitement to meet her favorite characters in person, made reserving a full day for Universal Studios Singapore an easy decision.

    Park timings

    • The park always opens at 10:00 AM.
    • The park closing time varies from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM depending on the day and season.
    • We recommend planning your visit on days when the closing time extends to 7:00 PM or more. Therefore check the operating hours to plan your visit.

    Where to get tickets

There are two ways to get tickets for a visit.

Book them online or at the Guest Services/Ticketing kiosks outside the park. Booking tickets online is highly recommended to beat the queues.

You can book tickets through the official Universal Studios Singapore app (available on both Google Play and Apple App Store. Alternatively, you can use aggregators such as Klook to book tickets.

Ticket prices (in Singapore Dollar, SGD) on the official Universal Studios app are the following:

Check the latest ticket prices on the official app before planning your trip.

On weekends, ride wait times can exceed 90 minutes. For an extra SGD 90 per person, the Universal Express Pass lets you skip regular lines, enjoy priority entry to shows and character meet‑and‑greets, and get front‑row access to the “Lights, Camera, Action” show in the Hollywood zone.

    planplanettm Getting there

    • The fastest route is the Purple MRT line to the HarbourFront station.
    • The RWS8 shuttle bus connects Exit C of the train station to the Resorts World Sentosa stop. The bus 123 also connects mainland Singapore with Resorts World Sentosa island (MyTransport.SG app available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store)
    • Exit the stop and take the escalator/stairs to the surface level. The massive Universal Studios globe marks the park entry.
    • Alternatively, you can take a cab from aggregators such as Grab or other taxis directly to the Resorts World Sentosa stop.
    • For a stroll, walk from HarbourFront Station along the Sentosa Boardwalk, dotted with alfresco cafes. – This route is best avoided during the tropical summer and is better suited for an evening return.

You can get the Express pass if you’re pressed for time in your visit to Singapore. If your plan is a full day at Universal Studios, it is possible to make the best of your time without buying the Express Pass. Read on to find out how!

    planplanettm Recommended route

Here’s the route we used during our visit to Universal Studios Singapore. Hopefully, it’ll help you get the most for your money and even save you some money by not having to buy an Express pass!

We started the day early and reached the USS Globe by 9:30 AM. We spent 15 minutes taking photos and checking out the various retail stores at the entrance, before we found our spots in the entry queue. Entry to the park started at 10:00 AM sharp!

We skipped Hollywood and New York and headed straight to Sci-Fi City. We tried the Transformers 4D ride and then the Battlestar Galactica roller coasters. By now, the crowds had started to grow. So we quickly went to Ancient Egypt and The Revenge of the Mummy. The wait time for the ride was 20 minutes when we entered. When we exited the ride, the wait time had increased to 60 minutes! Our next stop was the Rapids Adventure in the Lost World.

After a quick lunch at the Oasis Cafe in Ancient Egypt, we headed to Far Far Away. Since the afternoon sun shone harshly on us, we headed indoors to catch the Shrek show. After a meet and greet with Shrek and Fiona, we headed to the Minion Land, watched Minion Mayhem, and went on the Buggie Woogie. When we got off the ride, we saw that the Puss In Boots-Kitty Softpaws show was starting, so we decided to give it a shot. By now, we were seeing wait times of nearly 90 minutes for some rides.

Afterwards, we returned to New York zone and into the Lights, Camera, Action! We had a blast (in a sense quite literally!), then took a second more leisurely round around the park to check out the retail stores. We could see that wait times were dropping to 20 minutes now and we still had at least three hours before the park closed for the day.

We ensured we took some nice photos at Hollywood and New York before we left.

When the park opened, most visitors took photos and explored the shops before heading to the rides. If you do the opposite - enjoy the rides first and save the pictures and shopping for later, you can likely experience all the attractions without needing an Express pass. You WILL have enough time for pictures. Remember this hack when visiting Universal Studios Singapore!

Read on for a few more tips for a smarter trip!

    Planning hints

    • Singaporeans respect and expect queueing, be it for the MRT, bus, or for the photo-ops that dot the various meet and greet events in the park. Be mindful of this and behave civilly.
    • Keep left on escalators as this allows a free lane on the right for those in a hurry.
    • Get the Smart Card for Singapore travel as soon as possible if you plan to use the public transport – it is usable across buses and trains, and the card is an accepted form of payment at most convenience stores such as 7-11.
    • Analyse closing times when deciding on your visit day. Sometimes, for the same ticket price, the park closes later. So you get more bang for your buck!
    • Pack light—some rides like The Mummy and Battlestar Galactica don’t allow bags. Lockers are available for your belongings, but they can fill up fast or get pricey (only the first 40 minutes are free) during peak hours.
    • Bring your own umbrella to protect yourself from the sun.
    • Pack your raincoats for the Rapids Adventure in the Lost World zone. Alternatively, you can buy raincoats or use the life-size drying chambers – but both come at a premium price.
    • Carry an empty water bottle and a few granola bars to travel light and avoid wasting time and money at crowded food stalls.
    • Check the app for show times and meet-and-greet sessions to plan your day smoothly.

If you’re a group of adults and none require supervision/support on the rides, you can opt for the ‘Singles’ queue on most rides which are much quicker than the usual queues. The downside is that you don’t get to enjoy the ride as a group and may be grouped up with random strangers.
