The Serene Vibe: Finding Peace at Hoode Beach

This particular blog is more of a photo dump of our time at Hoode beach and less of words. This was the first beach we visited during our trip to Udupi and we were totally blown away by the serenity and the vibe of this beach!

Staying for the Magical Hoode Beach Sunset

The amazing white sand, the gentle waves and the colour of the sky made for a magical day!

I just sat on the shore and let my 3 year old to play all by herself, a first for her, as the sea was so so calm that it almost felt like a large river!

The beach was very clean, probably because of the very little footfall that we saw. For parents traveling with young children, Hoode is a hidden treasure because of how remarkably calm the water is. While most Indian beaches have a heavy surf that can be intimidating for toddlers, the waves here were so gentle that it felt more like a large, saltwater river. It was a milestone moment for us to let our 3-year-old play independently by the shore, safely exploring the clean, white sands while we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.

    The Delta Point Experience

Beyond the stretch where we sat, the road continues toward Bengre Delta Point, a unique geographical strip where the Suvarna River finally meets the Arabian Sea. The drive itself is incredibly scenic, with the river on one side and the ocean on the other, making you feel like you are at the very edge of the world. It is a much more rugged and natural experience compared to the commercialized “sea walks” found in other parts of Karnataka, and it perfectly captures the “time stands still” vibe we felt throughout our visit.

    What Other Travelers Ask

We came to know that surfing can be done at Hoode. But when we were there, we did not see much surfing activity.

While beautiful, the currents can be strong. It did “feel” safe though!! But don’t take our word for it! Always check with locals or lifeguards before entering the water.

It is a quiet beach with limited commercial shacks, keeping it peaceful and clean. So short answer – not many food shacks.

Yes, it is one of the best unobstructed sunset points in the Udupi region.
